Luke Paun/Eagle Scout

In October 2023 I earned the rank of Eagle Scout through Boy Scout Troop 747 with the Catalina Council in Tucson, Arizona.

My service project was at Tucson's Purple Heart Park, a city park dedicated to recipients of the Purple Heart. I installed eleven trail-marker signs along the loop, each carrying a quote or piece of information about the Armed Forces and doubling as a distance marker. I added plants and re-landscaped the front of the park, then laid fresh gravel at the entrance to clean up the approach.

On January 10, 2024, Rep. Juan Ciscomani (AZ-6) entered the project into the U.S. Congressional Record as an extension of remarks titled “Outstanding Achievement of Luke Paun.”

Luke’s Eagle Scout project was aimed at further recognizing the sacrifices made by recipients of the Purple Heart. Luke did so by making improvements and additions to Tucson’s Purple Heart Park. He installed 11 trail marker signs along the path, each containing a quote or information relating to the Armed Forces. The signs also serve as a visible marker for distance traveled throughout the park.
